The good news is we have a bunch of great people from the Boston area and from the rest of Massachusetts, New York, Rhode Island and yes even Virginia who've signed on to the BARC site.
The not so good news is how do you get notified if someone is proposing an upcoming climb date? You can't check the site every day to see if something's happening, who's got the time? My work schedule is so crazy often I don't know if I'm going to climb until a day or two before the climb.
I'm thinking of setting up a private (BARC members only) Googlegroups mailing list for the sole purpose of BARC climb notifications. The last thing anyone needs is more spam in the email Inbox but this might be the one the email you want to get amongst all the invitations to buy Viagra or to help extract millions of dollars from a secret Nigerian bank account.
What do think? Any other ideas to give BARC members climb notifications in their Inbox?
Hey BARC, this is Joseph Porcelli from Neighbors for Neighbors. My suggestion is to create a Google Calendar.
You can embed you calendar her in a text box, and you can subscribe to the RSS feed.
To help organize these forum you can create categories. I would create a couple - like Gear, Climbs, and General Discussion. You can also choose follow discussions of interest in particular categories - which will notify you when people post and reply
